My AWESOME cousin came to stay with us for a week last Saturday. She has been doing this for four years now. Ever since Maddie was one-years-old! She helps out with the kids and gives me some down time. My girls LOVE her and cant get enough Geena time.
This year Ashelyn fell in love with Geena. She calls her "Genka". She had Geena wrapped around her finger. If Ashelyn wanted something she went to Genka, if Ashelyn cried she went to Genka, if Ashelyn was hurt she went to Genka, if Ashelyn wanted to play she went to Genka, if Ashelyn was hungry she went to Genka. There was nothing I could do to take her away from HER Genka. When Jake took Geena to the airport Ashelyn went, but to our surprise she did pretty good-no crying, but the next morning she was walking around saying in a sad voice "Genka"): It broke my heart.
Maddie and Brookelyn also had a great time with Geena. Brookelyn made Geena laugh with her pig snort and Maddie impressed her with her new swimming abilities.
This was a usual site at my house last week.
Irelyn warmed up to Geena a little and gave her a few smiles and peaceful moments, but for the most part Irelyn is a mommys girl. Thursday night we tried going to the Temple and left all the girls with Geena. I had pumped milk all day and even bought a new bottle for Irelyn. We test out the bottle-feeding earlier in the day and was pleased to see that she took it.
So Jake and I drove to the Newport Temple and were disappointed when my Temple recommend was expired! So we turned around and headed home. I was pretty bummed, but realized the reason behind our disappointment turned out to be a blessing for Irelyn and Geena. Irelyn had cried the whole hour and a half we were gone and was not letting up. She wouldn't take the bottle and poor Geena was overwhelmed. As soon as I got home and held Irelyn she was fine. Thanks Geena!
I am so proud of my 18-year-old amazingly smart cousin. I love having her here and spending time with her. Im trying to convince her to go to Cal State Irvine so I could have her closer. I might have to battle Zac over that but I will keep trying(:
We love you Geena!
Next time dont bring any mice with you and remember slow off the clutch and light on the gas!
