Let the Festivities Begin

We started with Ginger bread houses. I let the girls do them all by themselves with little help from me. I was super impressed with how they turned out.

Such concentration from little Ashelyn. She got to do her very own ginger Christmas tree.

Not too shabby for such little girls!

IMG_0084    What's that in Boopy’s mouth? Yep, a piece of candy off the newly decorated ginger bread house. She is such a naughty little thing!

Next were off to get the tree.

It took me a long time to pick a tree this year, but it turned out great. I do want to do a themed tree next year and let the kids have a tree of their own.

In the mist of the holidays I taught Brookelyn’s pre-school. Here they are making their instruments. I have been having fun with Joy School. I really don't mind teaching. The kids are so funny! I also get to be Brookelyns teacher at church next year. I like being my girls primary teachers. It gives me a good look at how they learn.

I love that face! I just had to throw in this cute picture. I have been having fun with my new Canon Rebel camera Jake got me on black friday.

Next was Maddie’s Spiral walk and class party at school. This is a special event where each kid reverently walk through a candle lit spiral with a candle in a apple. They take it to the center and light it. While walking back they place it along the path somewhere. It is done with all lights off and a harp player playing Christmas music. It was BEAUTIFUL!

It was interesting how each child did this so differently. Some slow and study while others raced through. Some were indecisive on where to place it and others were very confident. Maddie was one of the last to do it so she knew exactly where she wanted her candle and how to zip through the path. I thought it was a good reflection on how we all travel through life so differently. Very cool.

At the class party all the parents sat at the kids table and the kids served the parents cider and cookies that they made. They then gave us the presents they made us. (Candles made with beeswax). It was quite a treat.

IMG_0288  Here's Maddie with Leara. They held hands walking to class. So sweet. Maddie loves school. She has been asking when Winter break is over. She's dying to see all her friends.

December has been super busy, but full of treasured memories.

Another to be continued…
