Hiking

It finally stopped raining! After a week of rain, wind, hale, tornado warnings, and cold cold cold weather it was SUNNY! We desperately wanted to enjoy the outdoors, so off we went to hike in our backyard. Well not really our backyard, but close enough. Up the street are trailheads to a beautiful place that is a perfect hike for our little girls.

This is the spot we saw a tarantula last time! Yuck!

Look at that pretty BLUE sky!

The girls were finding pictures in the clouds. Maddie was proud that she found a cloud that looked like broccoli (not in this picture).

We made it to frog pond. After a week of rain its more like duck lake. No frogs were to be seen, but ducks were there. We should have brought bread.

Maddie is such an outdoor girl and LOVES to hike. Brookee on the other hand is entertained for 10 minutes before asking for a lift home. She even went in the backpack carrier on the way down while Ashelyn walked and I held Irelyn. She is such a princess! Ashelyn even hikes longer than her!

Thank goodness during our week of bad weather Geena and Sarah (aka Syrup) were here. We had a blast with them. They babysat for us a lot, which allowed Jake and I to go on dates! We went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and went to the Temple one night. I got to run errands alone and even do visiting teaching without bringing all the kids. The last night they were here I took them out to hot chocolate and the movies. We had a fun girl time. I love that Geena is such a awesome cousin. Hanging out with her and Sarah was like hanging out with my own girlfriends.

All I have to say is thank heavens I live in Southern Cali. I could not handle longer than a week of bad weather. There's only so many indoor activities to keep my girls entertained.

So cool you have a hiking trail so close to home, good fun for all and I'm sure nice to be outside after all that rain.

Love the pics! I used to love to hike, but I'd have to drive somewhere just to hike--nice that it is just down the street for you.

What great family activity! It looks beautiful up there. Someday I need to check it out too. I am sure the kids will love it.

We'll have to do one of these hikes while I'm there in June. Seriously, we should meet up.
